The long dress with elegant lines from 1890s fashion had continued into early 1900. People in this period were so conservative that it was believed to be improper fashion for a woman to show her ankle. That is the reason why the long dresses were popular.
If you wanted to be considered even remotely good looking in early 1900, it was important for you, as a woman, to follow the fashion expected at the time. And the fashion expected in early 1900 meant tiny waists, emphasized hips, and protruding posteriors.
Corsets were an absolute must throughout early 1900 and earlier. Assorted corsets offered various series of folds, curves, and contortions for new and upcoming silhouettes. The timeless elegance of the corset, was true to fashion as it reduced the waist with beautiful tight lacing.

History of the Corsets

The corsets were originally designed for medical use. It was believed that a woman was very fragile, and needed assistance from some form of stay to hold her up. Even the young girls were laced up into bodice but in a good motivation.
Gradually these garments were lengthened and tightened. By the time they were in their 15 years old, the girls were unable to sit or stand for any length of time without the aid of a heavy canvas corset reinforced with the hard material such like steel. The corset deformed the internal organs making it impossible to draw deep breath, in or out of a corset. Because of this, Victorian women were always fainting and getting the vapors.

In the old times, women were thought weaker than men, even included their minds and bodies. So the corset was deemed morally and medically necessary. Tight lacing was considered virtuous - a loose corset was probably a sign of a loose woman.
When concerning the corsets, I can not neglect the period from 1820 to about 1910. But the corset is much older than that. In Europe, it has been in general use as an undergarment since the middle ages, but it probably dates several thousands of years back. The corset has at all times been used for shaping the body, most often for compressing the waist, but sometimes for raising the bust.
And now in our era, women still wear corsets but not always. It becomes more loose and serves as accessory to women just for looking differently.

The Victorian Style Corsets Are Eye-Catching

The corsets are actually stemmed from the victorian era. At that time, women wanted to have a curvy figure, so the corsets were used to help construct their slim figure. They pursued such figure at the cost of their transformed internal organs. As the time went by, the dressing idea had changed. Women will not be restricted to the over curvy figure. The corsets now are not that tight. Women wear it for the beauty and sexiness it shows.

The above two corsets are in the victorian style. They are both in the light color. The pink studded with gold accents and the white and the blue are matching for the two corsets simple and classy style. Corsets are important to women. The function the corsets play is mainly in two ways. One is to show and emphasize the curvy figure especially the waist. The other is to reveal the wearer’s sexiness and femininity. For the second function, the best pattern is the strapless design and the sweetheart neckline. There is also a feature in most corsets. You can also see from the two corsets I post. The bottom line of the corsets are not level. The pointed line with asymmetrical detail is mostly appeared in a victorian corset.
Victorian style clothing has a long history. There are some reasons for that it is kept till now. In the corsets, the gorgeousness and the sexiness are the most features that make it a fashion in nowadays.
